Description:
This is a beautiful all-original American Western Arms "The Peacemaker" Model 1873 Single Action Revolver, chambered in ..357 Magnum and with a 5 1/2" inch barrel. These Colt SAA replicas are VERY nice guns that are nearly identical to the Colt Single Action Army revolvers in appearance, and quite often have a better fit and finish than the modern-production originals.  In fact, they are so close to being identical to the SAA, that the Colt company sued them successfully in 2004 for infringement, and the lawsuit ultimately put them out of business.  Because A.W.A. only built this revolver for 4 years, only a fraction of the planned-production was completed which makes finding a really nice example in the caliber and barrel length desired a tough thing to do it
This particular example is serial number 7126, most likely made in 2002 or 2003.  As you can see from the pictures, it is very lightly used and has been well cared-for.  It is chambered in .357 Magnum / .38 Special, a very versatile chambering for this pistol.  You can fire any of the powerful .357 Magnum loads thru it when knock-down power is needed, then switch to .38 Special loads for low-recoil and economical practice/target shooting/pinking. The beautiful original factory finishes on this gun are in excellent /like new condition, rating 98% plus. The only deductions come from the faint drag-line around the cylinder and some minuscule handling marks only visible when under super-close inspection. The case colors are beautiful, showing bright colors everywhere, and the factory high-polish blue finish is very bright and glossy. The bore in this revolver is minty, bright and shiny and free from any visible erosion or pitting.  The rifling is like-new with sharp and prominent lands and grooves, The chambers in the cylinder are just as minty as the gun itself.
The factory grips are in like-new condition on this gun and perfectly fit to the frame.  Note the running / galloping horse inside an oval, and the American Eagle & shield molded into the grips, which were found to be too similar to the Rampant Colt logo and Eagle grips that Colt has used to be legally permissible. for AWA to use.  You will also notice the patent dates stamped into the lower section of the left side of the frame, just like the Colt SAA as well.  The American Western Arms The Peacekeeper has a hammer-mounted firing pin, just like the original S.A.A.s as well.  No transfer bar or frame mounted firing pin incorporating added safeties like most copies of this classic.
This Peacemaker is in excellent mechanical condition.  Both the half and full-cock notches are intact and secure, and the firing pin located in the frame is in perfect shape.  The factory hand-tuned action in this Peacemaker is smooth and slick, and it is perfectly "in-time" no matter how fast or slow the action is worked.  The factory original grips are free from any cracks or major damage/wear, and all of the screws in the gun have clean, un-buggered slots,.  The fitment of parts on this revolver are exceptionally tight and clean, and very well-executed.  As mentioned previously, the fit and finish of this Peacekeeper rivals most of the Colt SAA's from this time period and is far superior to the Colt SAA's made in the 1980's thru the 1990's. This very nicely-made Single Action Army should stand the test of time over the next 20 years just like it has the last 20 plus years.  All in all, this is one very handsome single-action revolver that is a genuine bargain in price relative to the Colt SAA's on the market.
