Description:
According to the factory records, this gun has an Octagon barrel, plain trigger, Checkered stock with pistol grip, 1/2 magazine. The serial number was applied on September 19, 1892 and was received & shipped from the warehouse on September 22, 1892 order number 5824.
The receiver retains a somewhat mottled appearance from faded case colors, still visible in areas most notably on the lower tang. The barrel retains 40% original blue, mostly having plummed with age and patina. All markings are sharp and clear. Fine bore with sharp rifling. 26 inch octagon barrel. Delux checkered stocks are fine with light handling marks and good checkering. Missing the ebony grip insert. Steel buttplate has silvered a bit with age. The top of the bolt retains almost all of the original blue, and as noted, most of the case colors remain under the lever. Good case colors on either side of the hammer. This gun was just brought in here out of an estate a few days ago, as you can see, the Cody sheet is dated April 15, 2025. All in all, a really nice honest untouched example of an antique 1886 deluxe rifle in .45-70 caliber. Serial number is 70370

We will sometimes take off barrels or stocks in an attempt to prevent damage in shipping. We only sell used guns, and have no way to know how many rounds have been through them.
