Description:

You are on a high condition Johnson Automatics Sporting Rifle built shortly after WWII ended.  In the 1930s, Johnson developed a competitor to the M1 Garand in hopes of gaining a government contract.  It was named The Johnson Automatic Model 1941.  While apparently a small number were bought by the military and issued, it was pretty much an unsuccessful deal.  Once the War ended, any hopes for the Model 1941 were extinguished.  In an attempt to keep the company afloat, Johnson began manufacturing high quality sporting rifles.  This is a wonderful example of their work.  It’s chambered in .257 Roberts and wears a 22 1/2” barrel.  Attached to the barrel just ahead of the Lyman front sight is a muzzle brake marked JOHNSON AUTOMATICS PATENT PENDING..  Marked atop the barrel about centered front to back is JOHNSON AUTOMATICS .257.  The Mauser action bears the Belgian crest on the top of the front bridge, and on the left side if the action is printed FAB, NAT. D’ARMES de GUERKE HERSTALBELGIQUE.  The LOP is 13 3/4.”  The bore appears excellent, and the condition of the wood and metal shows next to no use.  Johnson Auctomatics Incorporated was located at 84 State Street, Boston, Mass.  I think Johnson went out of business in 1949.  This could explain why I have only knowingly seen 2 Johnson Sporting Rifles; the two I have!  The pictures accurately portray the excellent original condition of this fine firearm. Please call (520-399-0440) or email (dmkernAZcox) with any questions.  Shipped to your FFL dealer insured for $65. Payment by cashiers check or money order. C&R eligible.
This is my first attempt to use Guns International.  Depending on how this works, I may use G.I. to sell the rest of my modest collection of Custom Rifles. This collection includes rifles made by William Sukalle, Sedgley, Doug Raebel, Newton, and Alvin Linden.
