Head scratcher: standard length German small ring K98 with commercial proof marks and sn 1344, matching numbered bolt and barrel, the latter half octagon with matted rib and two leaf rear sight, 25" roll-marked "Krupp Laufstahl" and "8x60" w comml 1938 proofs 7,7mm on the underside. Excellent strong bright bore. Double set triggers w shotgun guard and tang, thumb slot action w hump, claw bases, lever release floorplate. Border engraving w scroll and matting, very strong original blue. Typical slim schnabel stock, original finish, w checkered grip, longitudinal scars on right side. Aside from the butterknife bolt handle, this looks and feels like a Commercial 98 Mauser Sporter but does not bear the Mauser name or banner. NOTE 318 groove!
