Description:
Very Rare SCARCE Antique Colt 2nd Model Deringer  .41 CF / London Agency .
Manufactured between 1870 to 1890
Approx. less than  200  Manufactured  SN 8963

This is the .41 CENTERFIRE Model
Less than 200 are believed to be chambered for centerfire . Most of these models were sold through Colt’s London agency.  These were produced with a standard iron frame with special centerfire hammer and round recoil plate.

Historical Context
  • Production Period: Circa 1870s
  • Production Quantity (.41 CF variant): Approx. 200 units
  • Purpose: Special order for Colt’s London Agency — tailored to the British market
  • Distinguishing Feature: Chambered in .41 Centerfire, an uncommon variant for this model (normally .41 rimfire)
  • Scarcity: Extremely rare; this caliber variant represents a subtype within a subtype of Colt deringers.
  • Desirability: High among Colt collectors and 19th-century British-American firearms specialists
This variation represents a transitional design intended to appeal to foreign markets, particularly in the UK, where the London Agency played a key role in Colt’s international expansion during the late 19th century.

Condition: 2 ½”  barrel in .41CF with an oxidized and light pitted bore still showing strong rifling. The finish has toned to a gun-metal gray and light brown patina with minor areas of surface pin-prick pitting.  The checkered walnut grips rate excellent . The barrel to frame fit is tight. Do not know if they are replacements or original.   The locking mechanism does work,  but does not rigidly lock the side swinging barrel. Mechanically still functions fine with a strong hammer spring
Barrel markings are partially legible due to some light pitting and normal wear.

The current condition of the item listed has been described to the best of my ability . Please examine the photos , text thoroughly and make sure to ask any and all questions.

This Colt Deringer in .41 center fire is a rare find and a must-have for collectors and enthusiasts alike. Don't miss your chance to own a piece of history. The small presentation case pictured will be included with the sale for you to display with this unique very rare revolver.
