Description:
Serial #52L5330, .303 British, 25" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has mild freckling within the grooves. This is a 1943-dated rifle that has matching numbers on the bolt, magazine and forend, with the metal retaining 85-90% of an armory reapplied blue finish that has silvered at the muzzle, on the high and exposed edges, and on the bearing surfaces of the bolt. A stamped metal Mk. 3 rear sight is fitted. The wrist socket has a clear "FTR" mark under the serial (Factory Thorough Repair) with what look like 1950 and 1952 dates above. The forend, handguards, and buttstock have minor handling marks and small surface blemishes scattered throughout, with no cracks or repairs. The buttstock has a "ZF" stamp near the butt on the right side ("Z" & condemned at base workshop, "F" & parts suitable for factory repair) which indicates that the buttstock was taken from a scrapped rifle and installed on this rifle during the FTR. Some number stamps are present on the top of the wrist which do not correspond to the balance of the rifle components. A No. 4 Mk.II spike bayonet is included which has a mostly plum-brown patina and gray metal on the balance. The metal scabbard retains about 85-90% of a black Suncorite finish. This is a neat WW2-made No. 4, which was repaired and refurbished during the Korean War, and rates very good-near fine overall. FFL or C&R;
