Description:
Circa 1869–1880 American Pocket Revolver

AETNA ARMS COMPANY – NEW YORK, USA
Historical Overview: The Aetna Arms Company operated during a pivotal era of American arms manufacturing, from 1869 to 1880, in New York City. Although a relatively obscure maker, Aetna produced a limited series of pocket revolvers which emulated the successful Smith & Wesson top-break designs. These compact handguns catered to the civilian market during a time of westward expansion and urban self-defense. Due to their short production span and modest output with total quantity estimated about 6,000.   Aetna revolvers are now considered scarce and collectible examples of post-Civil War ingenuity.
