Description: General Specs: Browning, 1961, 12 Gauge, 7lbs. 6oz., Chokes IC/M, LOP 14 3/8", DAH 2 1/2", DAC 1 1/2" Serial Number: 88220 The Browning Superposed is one of the finest over/under shotguns in history and one of John Browning’s most brilliant designs. Produced in plain field grades to the most elaborately engraved and finely stocked shotguns ever seen, production of the Browning Superposed was done in Belgium, running strong from 1931 through 1977 when traditional production ceased. The Pointer Grade was introduced in 1960, replacing the Grade III of the 1950’s. The engraving pattern was nearly full coverage fine scroll and game scene vignettes, including the long tang trigger guard. The wood was fine English walnut with notable figure. The Pointer Grade was made in very small numbers, fewer than 140 ever in 12 gauge and less than 50 with 28” barrels, making the Pointer Grade a highly sought after Superposed. This all original factory finished Pointer Grade 12 gauge, sn88220 made in 1961, was made with all the most desirable features for Superposed aficionados to include long tang round knob stock with field style forend, 28” field choked barrels (IC/M), factory horn buttplate, 99% factory condition on all wood and metal, shiny mirror bores, excellent checkering, most all of the gold on the trigger, barrels still tight on the hinge pin and breech face. This is a stellar, rare Superposed engraved by one of Fabrique National’s master engravers, Andre Watrin and signed on both sides of the action. You can search the entire internet, and you will find only a few pre-1966 for sale and they are all compromised in one way or another. Keep in mind the later Custom Shop B25 guns made after the 1980’s are not the same collector Browning Superposed guns that collectors chase and cherish. This is a “NO EXCUSES” Pointer Grade with all the right stuff. We have several Browning hard cases that would be proper for this gun if you want a proper case for about $350 added cost. Our gunsmiths have thoroughly inspected this Superposed, and all is in superb mechanical order and the gun has a 30-day mechanical warranty for the new owner. See specifications below. Don’t hesitate, as a Pointer Grade with all these features rarely come up for sale. Thanks for looking!
