This is a well-preserved, commercial model revolver that has the English markings and matching assembly numbers (6958) on the frame, barrel, cylinder, and latch. The metal retains 60-65% of the original bright blue finish, and the balance faded to a freckled plum-brown and gray patina. Some of the original color case-hardening can still be seen on the hammer and spurred trigger guard, with the balance faded to a dull pewter gray. The smooth walnut grips are original and numbered to the gun on the interior, with some minor handling marks and small surface blemishes present on both panels. The barrel lock-up is tight, without any lateral play, and the action is smooth and fully functional. This is a fine example of a desirable big bore S&W top-break revolver, and would make a great addition to any collection. Antique Price: $5,995.00 |
