Description:
General Specs:  Winchester, 1889, .32 WCF, 8lbs. 9oz., LOP 12 3/4″
Serial Number:  304517B

It is not often you find an antique Winchester Model 1873 rifle with nearly all the factory finish remaining on the wood and metal.  Here we have such a gun, a Winchester Model 1873 rifle, 3rd Model, in .32 WCF chambering built approximately 1889 that still retains 97% dark factory original blue on the barrel, magazine tube, and action, 80% original factory case color on the lever and hammer, and 90% original factory varnish on the wood.  The crescent steel buttplate retains about 90% mottled and thinning case color as well.  The bore is bright with strong continuous rifling from muzzle to breech, with light pitting throughout.  I would rate the bore as a 7.5 on a scale of 10 which is excellent for a black powder rifle 136 years old.  The rifle is equipped with Winchester factory correct sling swivels, Lyman No. 4 front sight with ivory bead, a blank in the dovetail for rear sight, and a Lyman No. 1 tang mounted peep sight in the rear.  The .32 WCF cartridge pairing was known to be very accurate and was popular for both game and protection in the wild areas of the country still being developed in 1889.  The traveler or cowboy could have one bag of cartridges to feed his handgun and his rifle making things easier in an era where there were no stores or towns.  The mechanics are superb and the screws are all in excellent shape.  The wood has a few light handling marks but is in overall excellent shape with no cracks or repairs and the wood-to-metal fit is perfect and tight all the way around.  It would be hard to find a better example of an antique Model 1873 at anywhere near the price we are offering this gun.  Please review the photos closely and see for yourself the quality of factory finish remaining on this gun.  Our photos are some of the best on the internet and allow you to see what your are buying clearly so there are no surprises when the gun arrives.  Thanks for looking!
