Description:
General Specs: Winchester, 1906, .40-82WCF, 9lbs. 1oz., LOP 13 3/8"
Serial Number:  138314

They made about 160,000 Winchester Model 1886 rifles, the first Winchester repeater truly capable of heavy, large caliber cartridges.  Winchester lever guns that remain in factory original condition have a grand following of collectors and shooters and have been known as superior investment guns increasing in value as you enjoy ownership.  Model 1886 rifles with special-order features were made in very small numbers making them the most valuable and coveted Winchesters.  THIS IS ONE OF THE SPECAIL GUNS, DOCUMENTED BY THE CODY FIREARMS MUSEUM AS BEING SHIPPED IN 1906 AS A SEMI-DELUXE RIFLE WITH CHECKERED PISTOL GRIP STOCK, DOUBLE SET TRIGGERS, SPECIAL-ORDER LYMAN FRONT AND REAR SIGHTS, AND SLING SWIVELS…A VERY SPECIAL MODEL 1886 INDEED.  Configured in the most desirable 26” octagon barrel, full magazine tube, and crescent steel buttplate, still in ALL FACTORY ORIGINAL CONDITION WITH LOTS OF FINISHES REMAINING, this rifle really checks a lot of boxes.  This M1886, sn138314 built in 1906, is in excellent mechanical condition.  The barrel retains 90% factory blue with wear on the hard edges, clear sharp stampings and lettering, a shiny bore with strong rifling from breech to muzzle showing light frosting throughout.  The magazine tube has no dents or dings with 98% factory blue.  The action has perfect screws, 80% dark factory blue with normal handling, carry wear, and showing strong bluing on top/bottom tang and no flaking.  The lever and hammer show 98% dark factory original case color with some thinning. The factory original wood retains most of the factory finish with light handling and no cracks, a small sliver of wood missing on the top right side of the head of the stock.  The set trigger works as designed, with 4lbs. of pull unset, less than 1lb. of pull with the trigger set for supremely accurate shooting.  There are a lot of M1886 rifles for sale, so how do you know which one to buy?  You should look for guns that are well presented with all the pertinent information shown, to include lots of excellent photos, full description and specifications…the information that lets you know what you are buying.  With a costly purchase you should want to buy from a seller with a stellar reputation, years of online presence, and even a storefront facility that indicates a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.  That is what you will find with guns sold by Vintage Firearms, Inc.  Our gunsmiths go through each gun to make sure they are safe and functioning properly.  VFI has thousands of A+ ratings and provides at least a 30-day mechanical warranty on all guns we sell.  See specifications below.  This is a very rare gun with unique features rarely found, Cody Firearms Museum documentation, and tons of factory original condition…just what you should want in your Winchester Model 1886!  Thanks for looking.
