Serial Number:  118001

What a unique SPECIAL-ORDER Winchester Model 1886 antique rifle we have here, shipped in 1898 (making it an antique) with a heavy 28” octagon barrel, ½ mag, matching Lyman sights, and retaining ALL FACTORY UNTOUCHED FINISHES ON METAL AND WOOD.  Chambered in the very desirable .45-90 W.C.F. cartridge (can also fire .45-70 WCF with no issues), sn118001 is documented with a Cody Firearms Museum letter (info sheet shown, letter ordered and will ship with the rifle) showing the rifle shipped just as she is today.  The long, heavy 28” barrel retains 95% factory blue, clear sharp lettering and stampings, a bright shiny bore with no pitting that rates 9 on a scale of 10, and is adorned with a full coordinated set of Lyman sights to include Lyman No. 4 front sight with ivory bead, Lyman No. 6 folding rear sight in the dovetail, and the Lyman No. 1 tang mounted peep sight, all seem to be original to the gun.  This Lyman setup was as good as an experienced rifleman could put together on this specialized long-barreled big bore Model 1886.  The rifle was ordered with a ½ magazine which makes for a unique looking rifle.  The action retains 70% factory case color, thinning all over and gone on the bottom carry area, superb screws, 98% factory blue on the bolt, 30% charcoal blue on the loading gate, 30% faded factory case color on the lever, and 90% factory case color on the hammer.  The factory original wood is in remarkable condition with only light handling marks, no cracks, 80% original factory finish remaining with no oil soaking to speak of, and a crescent steel buttplate that has traces of case color remaining.  At 8lbs. 14oz. this is a BIG rifle in a big-bore .45-90 WCF chambering that has been very well cared for over the last 127 years.  With such a great bore and fine sights, it could be your next 200-yard deer and elk rifle!  Model 1886 rifles with cool special-order features, high levels of factory original condition, Cody Firearms Museum documentation, produced in desirable big-bore calibers are in high demand and continue to grow in value, making this rifle an investment not an expense.  We have priced the gun at an attractive price, and it should not last long.  Make this one yours…call us at VFI today!  Thanks for looking!
