Description:
This is a very nice Swedish Model 1896 Mauser that is all-matching except for the cleaning rod and firing pin assembly. This is Swedish Military rifle has been well cared-for and gauged a bore condition "1" which is excellent, with the bore diameter gauging 6.50 mm. The Swedish Mauser Model 1896 went into production at Carl Gustafs in 1896 and was produced until 1932 with approximately 475,000 rifles manufactured. The Model 1896 served the Swedish Military for a very long time, remaining in service until being phased out in the 1950's. They are excellent rifles, with an outstanding reputation for accuracy and reliability. The 6.5 Swedish cartridge is an excellent cartridge ballistically, and is capable of extreme accuracy even at long distances. When these Swedish Mauser's hit the surplus market and were imported into the States, shooters immediately recognized the weapon as an excellent shooter as well as a military collectible. This particular 1910 manufactured rifle has a nice clean look to it, and has all-original finishes. The factory blue finish shows some consistent light wear on some of the more exposed areas and minor handling marks, but overall looks great with a nice dark blue on the receiver, barrel, and floorplate/triggerguard. The bolt, which came from the factory polished bright, is still nice and clean with no major stains or imperfections. The original stock is in excellent condition overall for a surplus rifle, with no cracks, chips, repairs, or major damage. The Walnut shows some handling marks and minor dings and dents, but as you can see from the pictures has a very attractive look to it that matches the rest of the rifle very well. All of the stock hardware is intact and in good condition. All of the controls are in perfect working order, and the action on this rifle is slick and turns into battery perfectly with no slop. This Carl Gustafs Swedish Mauser would be an excellent addition to any military rifle collection and should be a superb shooter at the range or farm.
