In 2019 B&T was awarded the contract for the US Army's SCW-Sub Compact Weapon, a new version of the APC. This historical event is the first time the US ARMY has adopted a submachine gun since 1943 when it adopted the M3 Grease gun The APC9 was designed from the ground up to carefully fill each of these voids, while also improving part longevity and ease of replacement. B&T included fully ambidextrous controls and the use of a hydraulic buffer system to better mitigate recoil, and B&T created a suite of platform-specific accessories that encompass a variety of caliber-/magazine-specific lowers, such as the APC9 PRO–s compatibility with standard B&T, GLOCK, and SIG SAUER P230 9mm receivers. 9mm Luger
