"NSN, made in 1864, .58 caliber, 40" round rifled barrel. Metal is a smooth light grey patina with light surface oxidation visible throughout. Faint barrel proof marks are visible. Lock plate is dated 1864. Forward of the hammer is stamped with “EAGLE-U.S./SPRINGFIELD" Bolster is stamped with Eagle motif. Stock has expected nicks, dings and scratches from handling and usage wear, but remains in very good condition. Action holds at half and full cock. Rifle comes with “U.S." marked socket bayonet.
