Payment Types Accepted: Pay Pal, Money order, bank check Description: I have been doing firearm restorations for over 50 years (Jimkneiperrestorations) One of those things that is really special to me is when I find a gun that has truly great bones but somehow found itself in not so great shape a hundred or so years later, and I get the opportunity to bring it back to life. Such is the story of the rifle listed here., built in 1886. I found it at a well known gun and had to fight off a few others that must have thought the same as me. I have finally decided to let someone else enjoy it. When I found this 81 Marlin I was attracted to the longest barrel I've seen on a production firearm. All in all this special order gun is more than probably a "One of a Kind". The 32" octoganal barrel is one of only 42 ever made and has a full length magazine beneath. This rifle was Not meant to be fired from the shoulder. When I bought it, it had no buttstock, the only wood was a broken forend but I could see that it had been checkered and was of very high grade walnut. It also features double set triggers, Period and correct Lyman Tang sight, an 1881 "Marlin Patent" rear sight with a Rocky Mountain front. The bore is in excellent condition for its age. I fully restored it to it's original condition with exhibition Claro Walnut, checkered in the proper pattern. The Hammer, lever and forend cap are color cased. with a Niter blued loading gate. Oddly, it was ordered with no rear dovetail for a sight. Possibly for a scope to be fitted. When they did cut a dovetail, it was pit right through the roll stamp on the top of the barrel. Obviously Marlin would not have done that. Factory letter is included! I am asking $7,495.00. As always serious inquiries are welcome. Please call Jim at 540-539-6810 with any questions.
