Description:
Fresh out of a local estate. The gun retains 85% original finish overall with some areas of light surface rust, most notably on the floorplate. All markings are clear. Bore is fine with strong rifling. 660 code on the receiver for Steyr, dated 1940. The receiver is properly unmarked on the left side where you would normally find the 98K marking. All matching numbers throughout including the stock, band spring, handguard, and small parts. The front band was period arsenal renumbered to match. There are NO import markings on this gun of any kind. Stock has some dings and handling marks with good markings, the serial number is stamped in the stock twice. The 660 code 1940 dated guns are the first of the 98k Mauser rifles made by Steyr, some using captured parts from the Radom factory in Poland. Prior to the manufacture of these guns, they were predominately making the G29/40 carbines. Not many of these were made. In 1941, Steyr changed to the bnz code commonly found. This would make an excellent companion to an early 660 code MP40 SMG. This is an army issued gun, with an H below the eagle on the right side of the stock. WaA623 inspectors marks. Serial number is 2552g

FFL or C&R license required
