CLICK ON: Visit Our Website Description: The grips pictured closely resemble what you’ll receive—each one crafted from natural elk antler and built to fit a wide range of Colt Model 1873 Single Action Army revolvers. They can also be made for many Pietta, Uberti, and USFA reproductions. Because they’re made from real antler, every pair has its own unique grain, tone, and occasional surface cracks. These aren’t flaws, but natural features—stable and purely cosmetic. Their look calls back to a bygone era, echoing the kinds of grips seen at gun shows during the 1960s and ’70s, often found adorning 1st Generation Colts. Back then, you’d see them all over—today, they’re rare treasures, often locked away on collector-grade pieces from the old frontier. This is a rare opportunity to revive that aesthetic with grips that bring that vintage spirit roaring back. Each set includes an interior locator pin hole positioned to match standard Colt specs, though a bit of tweaking—such as adjusting the size or placement—might be necessary to ensure a snug, proper fit on a particular revolver. The distinctive “Hash Mark” pattern draws inspiration from grips carved in the 1870s and ’80s, typically shaped by hand in small shops or by individual craftsmen. It wasn’t until 1891 that Rogers Manufacturing Co. of Rockfall, Connecticut, began offering them on a commercial scale. Known for producing everything from knife handles to pacifiers and corn-cob pipe stems, Rogers left their mark with a signature design—long cuts interrupted by short slashes—a style that came to be known as the “Hash Mark.” Though no longer churned out in factories, these grips live on through handmade reproductions available from River Junction Trade Company. NOTE: For best fit we prefer to have your revolver. If you are not comfortable with that, we can work from your original grips, back strap and trigger guard. Price: $379.95 |
