Description: General Specs: Colt, 1971, .36 Caliber, 41oz, Barrel 7 1/2" Serial Number: 2993USG, 2993REL In 1971 Colt offered for sale a selection of Colt Navy Model 1851’s as commemorative reproductions. Most of this limited production was issued as singular guns in wooded presentation cases with about 2500 of each gun made. There was, however, a more exclusive two-gun presentation set offered, with just 251 sets being produced. These sets are rare and becoming exceedingly hard to find as often they are broken up with the guns being separated from their brother. This is an example of the issued matched pair set, the guns share the same serial number with different suffixes; 2993USG for Ulysses S. Grant and 2993REL for Robert E. Lee. The guns are identical apart from the Grant gun having a squared off trigger bow and the Lee gun with a rounded profile. Both guns bear a naval scene and both are caliber .36. Each gun is roll-marked for its General. The guns are in unfired condition but show a little dulling to the silver plating on the trigger bows and straps. The case holds various shooting accessories.
