Pedersoli Sharps J.B. Gemmer 1874 in 45-70
This rifle is a copy of the J.B. Gemmer 1874 Sharps rifle. John Gemmer took over the Hawken Rifle Company in about 1865 and moved from building muzzle loading rifles to cartridge rifles incorporating some of the typical “Hawken” parts into the rifles he made. This rifle is a faithful copy of his example using the Sharps Action and adapting similarities found in the old Hawken rifle.
This rifle has a walnut stock set with left side cheek piece and forend, the stock is fitted with a blue steel crescent butt plate steel toe plate. The heavy 30" blued octagon barrel uses two wedges to hold the forend of the to the barrel, It featuring an adjustable long tang full buckhorn barrel sight and a brass blade front sight. It has an under barrel rib with two blue steel thimbles and entry pipe where the brass-tipped hardwood cleaning rod barrel is located. It is fitted with Double Set Triggers. The receiver is factory drilled and tapped for aperture rear sight mounting. Bbl. marked "J.P. Gemmer St. Louis". The action is case-colored hardened.
Condition:
This rifle is in excellent, pretty much, in new & unused condition. There is really no evidence that this rifle has been used and shows very few & slight bumps from handling. The blue and color case hardened surfaces exhibit no loss of finish. The rifle comes with the correct Pedersoli Gemmer box that is not numbered, and a manual.
In all aspects this is an excellent almost new example of a Pedersoli Sharps Gemmer 1874 rifle in 45-70 which is no longer made.
