Meriden Firearms Company — Brief History Founded: Around 1905 in Meriden, Connecticut Parent Company: Sears, Roebuck & Co. (Meriden was created as Sears' house-brand firearms manufacturer) Facilities: Operated out of the old Malleable Iron Company building in Meriden Products: Shotguns (single and double barrel), revolvers, and rifles like the Model 10 Designs: Some of Meriden’s shotguns were designed by Andrew Fyrberg, a former Hopkins & Allen designer Closure: The company ceased production around 1918, likely due to WWI economic factors and Sears shifting focus   Meriden rifles like the Model 10 are relatively rare today, especially in good condition. These rifles are often found without serial numbers, and documentation can be sparse. Values vary, but they’re generally considered modestly collectible. This example is a very fine example of a rare Meriden rifle and found in excellent condition.  Condition:  22” barrel , NSN,  with a very bright shiny great condition bore and still showing strong rifling throughout. Appears to have had very little use.  The metal surfaces retain about 85% of the original blue and nice case hardened colors with the barrel beginning to develop a gray-brown patina. Smooth straight grip walnut stock and forearm rate excellent. Showing just a few scattered dings and handling marks.
