Description:
This is a 70 Series Combat Commander and it is a genuine "Old School" Custom. I purchased the gun as you see it in '89 or '90, validating the timeframe of the modifications. It has all of the custom touches desired on a combat pistol back in the 1970s. In those days, modifications like this pistol wears were performed by hand and/or on non-CNC machine tools. The period correct modifications include:
Ported Slide
Ramped and polished Barrel
Guide Rod added
Filed Smith and Wesson Sites
Beaver Tail
Checkered / Knurled Front Strap
Checkered / Knurled Trigger Guard
Checkered Backstrap / Mainspring Housing
Custom Finish (NiTex??)

The serial number of the gun dates to 1974 and also indicates this gun was originally blued.
I do not know who did the custom work on this gun. I've put a few boxes through this pistol decades ago and it shot flawlessly.
