Description:
Handsome and quick handling Hellis Featherweight model 12 bore with residual case coloring and nicely figured European walnut stock and forearm. Cast-On for the lefthanded shooter but can easily and inexpensively be bent cast-off. Hellis number 3473 was made 1925-28 and is in great mechanical and cosmetic condition. Crisp deep chisel Celtic style engraving and the special “Featherweight” symbol. A 7-pin sidelock with auto safety, double triggers, and automatic selective ejectors. Twelve bore power and easy to carry for a day afield at 6lb 4oz.

The 28” nitro steel barrels are chambered for 2-1/2” shotshells and proofed for 1-1/8oz loads. Rumors to the contrary notwithstanding, low pressure 2-1/2” shotshells are available in the US from ARMUSA, Game Bore, and RST Shells. The bores are shiny and bright and the bluing is in good condition with some thinning of the finish near the muzzles. They are topped by a raised solid gamestyle tapered rib which is inscribed “Charles Hellis & Sons 119 Edgeware Road Hyde Park London W”. The right barrel is bored 0.733 with a constriction of 0.005 for Skeet choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.027. The left barrel is bored 0.731 and has a constriction of 0.018 for Light Modified choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.027. Perfect choking for a lightweight upland 12 bore.

The straight hand stock and splinter forearm are made of nicely figured European walnut. Checkering is sharp. Stock dimensions are 14-1/2” including a 1” rubber recoil pad by 1-1/2” by 2”. Cast-On 1/4" for the lefthanded shooter.
