Tower Mfg 3rd Model Brown Bess or Model 1797 with 39" tapered round Bbl. Round body loch has Royal cipher & "GR" with Swan pattern cock. One-piece walnut stock with brass fittings and iron sling swivels. Butt has rack number C-V 24 at heel. Mounted with contemporary white buff leather sling and contemporary loading rod. No cartouches or other identifying marks. Condition, Very fine with a protective coating of varnish applied to wood. Barrel has a toned patina. Bore is dark. Mechanically fine. These saw service during the Napoleonic war and many were sold later to Mexico. This pattern is known as the Indian pattern when having the East India Co monogram on the lock and stock.
