Description:
A Very Early & Scarce Pre Civil War Sharps Brass Mounted Model 1853 "Slant Breech" Carbine In Nice Untouched Condition. Serial #8531, made from 1853-1855. All original and complete. These were made for the "Sharps Manufacturing Co." by "Robbins & Lawrence" of Windsor Vermont. The carbine has nice metal and vey clear markings throughout. It also has nice edges. U.S. Sub Inspected on the barrel. All of the metal on the carbine has an even and dark natural chocolate brown patina on it which is mixing with some original brown finish. It has very goon and untouched brass fittings with a wonderful darkening patina on them. This includes the barrel band, patch box, and butt plate. The wood on the carbine is nice throughout with a dark natural color and nice grain to it. It shows even natural light wear in areas from use. It has a nice action and bore in it. This Is A Fine Looking Untouched Example Of A Very Early & Scarce Civil War Sharps Brass Mounted Model 1852 "Slant Breech" Carbine That Modt Likely Saw Action In The War. They Were Used By Both The North And The South!
