Description: General Specs: Winchester, 1936, .22 L/S/LR, 5lbs. 14oz., LOP 13 1/4″ Serial Number:  16251 What a great collectible Winchester rimfire we have here and one of the most desirable of the .22 pumps.  The Winchester Model 61 was introduced in 1932 and was in production through about 1961. The Model 61 could have been special ordered as a “DELUXE” with highly figured American walnut and checkered capped pistol grip stock and checkered forend and very few were made in Deluxe configuration. This Model 61, sn16251 built in 1936, is the most desirable as it is a PRE-WAR MODEL WITH A “MACHINE BLUED” OR CHARCOAL BLUED RECEIVER RATHER THAN THE DU-LITE BLUE THAT CAME SHORTLY AFTER THIS SERIAL NUMBER.  Adding to the desirability of this Model 61 is the 98% FACTORY ORIGINAL, UNTOUCHED CONDITION OF ALL METAL FINISHES, and an excellent, mirror shiny bore.  There are a few light handling marks, slight wear on the hard edges of the metal, and a few light freckles here and there is all we see in the way of wear on this well-cared-for gun that has had its 89th birthday!  This is a very rare opportunity to own a rare little Winchester with high condition and gorgeous checkered wood.  Thanks for looking!
