Serial number 36078. Made in 1862. 44 caliber with an 8" barrel. This gun is in very fine condition with 65% of the period blue on the barrel. The frame is incredible sharp and only shows traces of case colors. The cylinder is very fine and also engraved. The engraving appears to be from a New York shop. The gun was subsequently finished. This gun has beautifully checkered ivory grips with the Mexican eagle on the left hand side. This gun comes with a factory letter. This gun as shipped to Emerson Gaylord who purchased the leather goods operation from Ames and went on to be a giant Government contractor for leather goods among other things.
