Description:
Excellent MacNaughton 20 gauge SxS, built in 1912. An all original upland gun, with 28 inch barrels, proved at 2 3/4 inch chambers, and choked IC / 1/4. According to MacNaughton production records, this BLNE gun is one of only seven made in this configuration. Gun received complete evaluation and rework in Scotland in 2013, including relaying rib, evaluating bores, stock cleaning, and Birmingham reproof to 2 3/4 chambers. Barrel bores are excellent, and are proved at .630 (16.0). Current barrel measurements are Right - .630 bore with .005 choke, and Left - .630 bore with .008 choke. MWT is .024 both barrels. One spot of very light pitting on the bottom outside left barrel which sits under the fore-end and, as such, is unnoticeable. Action engraving is original with no scrubbing/sweeping. LOP is 14 1/2 inches to center, with DAC at 1 1/2 inches and DAH at 2 inches. Weight is 5 pounds 10 ounces. Includes period case with manufacturer label.
This gun purchased from MacNaughtonin 1912 by Capt. Hector Macneal. Capt Macneal served in the 92nd Gordon Highlanders and was a regular MacNaughton customer. As many times with small bore guns, this gun purchased for his spouse, Mrs. Edith Macneal. Full provenance included.
