Colt 3rd Model Thuer Derringer. Early model with pregnant frame. Gun has all early features: pregnant frame, tight curl and high hammer. The barrel address is faint, but one can still make out the early marking. Barrel has been cleaned, and there is light pitting in places. The frame is very good with no real scratches or marks visible. Grips have been refinished, but fit well. Interestingly, there is no serial number under the grips and there never was one. under the barrel is the serial number 135. There is also a number on the flat of the frame 33. The serial number fore these guns should only be on the underside of the barrel and underneath the grips. It is possible that the Colt factory neglected to put the number on the frame and as for the presence of the 33, it could be an assembly number. We have consulted another expert who had no explanation either. Gun is a sharp early gun with no alterations other than the grips. (C6433)
