Description: This is a very scarce pre-World War 2 German M1884/98 bayonet dated 1936 manufactured by Jeter & Scheerer and steel non-matching numbered scabbard with leather frog and braided leather tie down. In fine condition the bayonet features smooth wood grips and has the characteristic red/plum hue on the blade of the 42/43 era refinish with slight damage to the tip and impact nicks along the blade. The Ricasso is marked with serial number "15385/b" and the reveres "S/245" code for the maker with "36" on the spine. The grips are in very fine condition with wear and the pommel is well marked with two Waffenampts showing impact marks along the top and dark finish. The brown leather frog is supple with good stitching but no longer has discernible marks with steel scabbard numbered at the throat "6130" and has Waffenampt mark at the tip with about half of the original finish. The frog has a very nice braided leather cord attached. A very nice pre-war bayonet from a scarce maker. Price: $395.00 |
