VERT RARE N.Y. ADDRESS WITH IRON BACK STRAP AND TRIGGER GUARD, .36 cal, #62267, 7 1/2 barrel, blue and case color finish, 1 piece walnut grips, all matching numbers, initials "I.T.G." engraved on butt, 1856. In Nathan Swayze' book, '51 Colt Navy, he states that "small rounded iron trigger guards are seldom seen on standard models", "So few were seen (iron back strap and trigger guard)-or known about- that it is impossible to establish a serial number range-if one does exist", He also refers to Navy's with iron backstrap and trigger guard not cut for stock as being "one of the rarer '51 Navy variations". The Navy comes with a holster that shows wear and has had the flap removed.
Condition: excellent bore, smooth iron gray patena overall, excellent cylinder scene, excellent grips with 60% original varnish, excellent mechanically, excellent marks.
