Description:
Offered is a special custom built, one of a kind switch barrel rifle, chambered in .25-06 and .35 Whelen. This special rifle was crafted by the late Gary Stiles (1949-2012) of Homer City, Pennsylvania for author and gun collector Tom Turpin who featured the gun in his 1997 edition of Modern Custom Guns. The gun is equipped with a set of two Swarovski scopes, one in 1 1/2-4 1/2 power and the second in 3-9 power. Both are in a set of interchangeable case colored Warne rings. The gun is cased in a custom built Huey trunk style case that includes a three piece cleaning rod with ebony handle. Also included is a custom knife with fluted Mastodon ivory scales and a hand tooled leather sheath by Joe Kious. The German Mauser action has a jeweled bolt and a checkered bolt knob. The ramp front sights include quick release hoods and the rear sight on the .35 Whelen barrel feature 100, 200 & 300 yard flip up ramp sights. The rear sight on the .25-06 barrel has a V notch with an ivory triangle marker on the back of the sight. While Gary did all of the metal work, the stock was crafted by Bill Simmen who used a wonderful piece of 4A fancy walnut. The leather covered recoil pad and delicate checkering will undoubtedly make this one of a kind rifle stand out in the best of collections. The gun and accessories remain in excellent condition. I offer a three day non firing inspection period and always want the buyer to be satisfied with their purchase. The gun will be packed correctly and shipped with insurance to your FFL dealer in the continental United States for the actual cost of shipping with insurance.
