The D.G.F.M. (F.M.A.P.) Modelo 1927 is an Argentine-licensed copy of the Colt M1911A1 chambered in .45 ACP, manufactured by the Dirección General de Fabricaciones Militares at the Fábrica Militar de Armas Portátiles “Domingo Matheu” in Rosario. These pistols were produced between 1945 and 1966 under a licensing agreement with Colt, utilizing original Colt blueprints and specifications. Notably, some models bear the “Policía de la Provincia de Buenos Aires” marking on the right side of the slide, indicating issuance to the Buenos Aires Provincial Police .
Constructed with high-quality steel, the Modelo 1927 features a 5-inch barrel, single-action trigger, and fixed sights, closely mirroring the original Colt design. The left side of the slide is typically marked with “D.G.F.M. – (F.M.A.P.)”, while the right side displays the Argentine crest along with “EJÉRCITO ARGENTINO / SIST. COLT CAL. 11.25mm MOD. 1927” . These pistols were known for their durability and reliability, with parts generally interchangeable with their Colt counterparts .
