Description:
For your consideration, the C. Sharps 1859 Carbine chambered in .50-70 Govt. The model 1859 Carbine was used during the Civil War, and later was converted to use a metallic centerfire cartridge. This model would have been converted to the .50-70 cartridge after the war. This one has the Sharps 1848 & 1852 Pat. Dates, and the R.S. Lawrence 1859 Pat. Date. The stock does have a cartouche on the left side, though it is hard to make out. Should be D.F.C. for the sub-inspector of the conversion process. This model does have the original six groove barrel. .50-70 Government
