Produced in 1988, this fine shotgun features a detachable trigger group action with a crisp single selective trigger and strong, in-time ejectors. The action locks up tight and cycles smoothly, a testament to its quality and maintenance.
The 30" barrels are fitted with Teague thin-wall choke tubes—1/4 and 1/2—for versatile field or clay use. Bores are clear, and the solid tapering rib is topped with a gold front bead for fast, instinctive target alignment. At just over 7 lbs, it balances effortlessly between the hands.
Where this Gamba truly stands apart is in its outstanding hand engraving. Executed by master engravers at Bottega Giovanelli, signed nected to trigger guard, the action is richly adorned with detailed game scenes bordered in elegant scrollwork. The left side features a shorthaired pointer with two grouse flushing against a mountain backdrop. The bottom showcases a pointer retrieving a pheasant, while the right side depicts two dogs driving a woodcock from cover—each scene beautifully framed in scroll motifs.
The straight-grip walnut stock and matching forend exhibit fine diamond-point checkering. Both show only minor handling impressions typical of age and light field use. The fit and finish reflect the refined standards of the Gamba workshop—on par with other top-tier Italian makers such as Perazzi, Piotti, and Beretta.
