19th Century European HOWDAH Pistol DAMASCUS SxS BARRELS .65 Percussion
Side by Side Large Bore Sidearm
Here we present an antique Engraved Double Barrel Side by Side Percussion Pistol, made circa the 1840s-50s. This “manstopper” pistol is large and has twin .65 caliber bores. This would have been a “point and shoot” pistol for protection against dangerous game or man. In a time when most pistols of this size were single-shot, twin bores would have been a great advantage!
The overall condition is very good. Strong actions. The bores are smooth and remain in good shape for their ages. Lightly engraved locks, hammers, and trigger guard. Damascus patterns on the barrel still quite clear. Solid stock with a smooth glossy varnish.
