Marlin Model 39A, pre-Golden era, third variation (blue receiver, round barrel, rounded lever), first year for this variation (serial number C8844 made 1946). 24" round barrel with ramped front sight, open rear sight, plain walnut stocks, plain pistol grip, trademark Marlin Bullseye intact in toe line of butt stock, blued finish, tubular magazine, take down frame, fires 22 short, long and long rifle cartridges. Receiver is factory drilled and tapped for various peep sights and scope mounts.
CONDITION: All metal parts retain 97% original bright blue with just a few hints of wear here and there. Bore is mint, super bright/shiny/sharp. Half cock safety and tube feed both work properly. Stocks show just a few light marks. No damage to butt plate (early style, no Marlin logo, correct for this vintage). Take down is tight with no wobble. Front sight hood is missing, otherwise it's in fabulous condition. Ballard style rifling, before the Micro Groove came out. Made before the JM mark started to appear on the barrel!
