Description: This is a 1939 dated WWII German M1884/98 bayonet manufactured by Alex Coppel GmbH in Solingen and comes with a non matching numbered steel scabbard with leather frog also dated 1939. In fine condition the bayonet measures 14 7/8 inches overall with a 9 11/16 inch blade that shows carbon staining with several impact marks. It is marked "207/j" on the ricasso and "Coopel GmbH" on the reverse with "39" date on the spine. The grips are intact with numerous impact marks on the flash guard and pommel which has two Waffenampts. The brown leather frog is supple with a worn finish and the steel scabbard is mostly a mottled brown. A fine example of a 98K bayonet from one of the scarcer makers. Price: $175.00 |
