Description:
WORLD WAR II Soviet IZHEVSK M44 7.62 Mosin-Nagant C&R Carbine SPIKE BAYONET

Replacement for the IMPERIAL RUSSIAN/SOVIET M1891

Here we present a C&R Soviet Mosin-Nagant Model 44 Carbine, made in 1944 at the Izhevsk Arsenal. The Mosin–Nagant, developed between 1882 and 1891, was the predecessor to this rifle. Known in the West as the Mosin–Nagant and in Russia as Mosin’s rifle, it’s a five-shot bolt-action rifle with an internal magazine. It was widely used by the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union, and many other countries. Over 37 million were made, making it one of the most mass-produced military rifles in history, and it’s still seen in conflicts around the world today.

As urban combat became more common, the Soviets developed the Model 44 Mosin-Nagant. It’s basically an improved version of the Model 38, with a slightly redesigned forearm and a built-in bayonet that folds into the stock when not in use. The Model 44 was easier to handle in city fighting, though few saw action on the Eastern Front. It was introduced in late 1944, with about 50,000 units tested in 1943, and production continued at Izhevsk Arsenal until 1948. The rifle was used not only by the Soviet Union but also by its satellite nations.

The overall condition is fine. This example is arsenal refinished. Strong action. The bore is shiny bright with nice rifling. Very fine stock with minimal evidence of handling wear. Sharply marked throughout. “Inter Ordnance” import marked. Bolt and magazine plate numbers match. Good, functioning bayonet.
