Description:
This nice clean 16 Bore rifle was made by Robert Wheeler & son and has a 29 inch Damascus barrel with a very good bore with 12 grove rifling.  It is marker Maker to his majesty which wood have probably mean that it was made during King William IV 1830-1837.  This gun has five rear sight leafs with one standing.  As you can see, it has beautiful wood with a patch box that contains a number of old greased patches, It has a trigger bow sling swivel and a sling loop on the forward ram rod thimble.  The stock had an added finish applied at some time during the last two centuries. The serial number is on the trigger guard extension and in the barrel mortise of the forearm.  It has a single set non-adjustable trigger and has Birmingham Proofs used from 1813 to 1855.  The barrel is 29 inches long and the gun weighs 7 pounds 8 ounces.  This is an unusual fine gun that should be returned to service.
