SN: 10777. The stock disc on this Waffenstadt DSM 34 single shot .22 caliber training rifle is marked SOLD. BD. The Soldaten Bund was a USO-type organization for German soldierrs. One activity available was target shooting. Rifles, marked like this one, could be checked out for use. The organization only lasted a couple of years before it was absorbed into the German Red Cross. The approx. 26\" barrel has an excellent bore with bright, strong rifling. The gun has approx. 97% blue with the buttplate being bright. The top of the chamber is marked Waffenstadt over a crest over Suhl. This rifle was produced by a manufacturing consortium in Suhl with Simpson and Co. probably having a major role. The left side of the chamber has crown over B and U proof marks over the serial number. The top of the barrel is marked Deutsches Sportmodell with the left side at the chamber having the crown over B and U proofs and 5.4mm. In front of this is KOECHLINGSTAHL. The serial numbers on the barrel, receiver, and bolt match. The stock is fine with light usage dents and dings. The cleaning rod is present. The rifle is equipped with a Mauser-marked muzzle and front sight protector. The action functions correctly. This is a top notch example of a scarce German training rifle with desirable ownership marks. It will be a great fit in your training rilfe collection. (R31030)
