U.S. Model 1812 State of New York Ward Tape Primer Conversion Musket, manufactured between 1812 and 1816 in New Haven, Connecticut, and converted in 1857, just four years before the start of the American Civil War. The State of New York contracted for 1,200 Ward’s hammer alteration muskets in 1857, with fewer than 300 being delivered. The Springfield Model 1812 Musket was a .69 caliber flintlock musket initially designed and manufactured by the Springfield Armory. On July 18th of 1812, Eli Whitney received a U.S. Government Order for 15,000 Flintlock Muskets, to be delivered at a rate of 1,500 units per year for the next 10 years. The State of New York also placed an order for this musket. Later, it was New York who had several hundred of these converted with the Ward system. Very rare. The overall condition is good.
