Payment Types Accepted: Description: This is an excellent original example of one of 1,000 S & W Model 1899 double action revolvers purchased by the US army from S & W. The revolver has a high polish S & W blue finish, case hardened hammer and trigger and distinctive walnut grips with checkered panels and diamonds around the screws. The 6 “ Barrel has a half moon front sight with the top strap notched with a sighting groove. The round butt is fitted with a lanyard loop and marked U.S./Army/Model/ 1899. The top of the barrel is marked with the standard S & W two line barrel address with ”84"-"98" patent dates. S & W . 38MIL is marked on the left side of the barrel. The bottom barrel flat is marked with the serial number followed by a “U” proof mark and the ordinance inspector's initials K.S.M. The right side of the frame bears the large S7W Monogram. The serial number is stamped on the cylinder face and on the front of the grip strap. The K.S.M. inspection mark is stamped on the left rear of the frame and the rear cylinder face. The inspection cartouche: “J>T>T?/1901 (for John T. Thompson) is stamped in a circle on the left grip flat and ”K.S.M." (for Kelly S. Morse) is stamped in a circle on the right. Condition: Excellent plus approximately 97-98% of the bright original polish blue finish remaining. Light Muzzle and high edge wear with an area of slight discoloration on the right side of the frame and a light drag line on the cylinder. The hammer and trigger show nearly all of the original vivid casehardened colors. All markings are clear and crisp. The bore is bright. Mechanically excellent.
