Description:
An interesting attic find from N.E. is this 1840 U.S musket converted Belgian style cone and the lock-plate is wiped clean with CS behind the hammer. The 29" musketoon barrel has a P proof, U.S, and number 1880 on the tang. Bore is fouled from excessive use. No evidence of recent changes of chemical smell and cut muzzle. Every part is aged well, and the walnut stock has scrapes and dents from field use. The iron ram-rod has a large copper tip.Action has a strong mainspring. Oddly the lock-plate has lead rivets coming from the interior,through to the front. I don't want to take apart for fear of upsetting the works.Just as found can't guarantee it is an original CS musketoon, but everything looks good and aged.When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting.
