Description:
This Colt SAA Single Action Army was produced in 1880. Its serial number is 55325. It is our belief that this is a commercial model made in the black powder era. We do not find any US marks or cartouches on this pistol. The stamp ".45 CAL" can be found on the lower leg of the trigger guard brace on the left side.
Serial numbers that are all matching include: the barrel, frame, trigger guard, backstrap, and cylinder. We do not find any rust or pitting on this pistol; however, much of its bluing has turned to a light grayish brown patina.
The firing action works exactly as it should and has four distinct clicks. The cylinder rod is the early type held in place by screw, not the push button variety. The bore has very distinct rifling as seen in the photographs. Please note, we used particularly bright light to take this photograph that would give the impression of bright shiny metal on the muzzle. This is not the case, it's just to our lighting source.
We have not disassembled this pistol, nor have we pursued a letter from Colt.
It has a 7.5" barrel and is chambered in .45 Colt. There are no alterations seen to the front sight. The grip's fit to metal is excellent with no cracks or chips.
We will not be able to ship this pistol that do not recognize antique firearms.
