Description:
Colt Model 1877 (Lightning) fitted with a 3 1/2 inch barrel, 6-shot cylinder with long flutes, double action in function and loads like a single action without a ejector rod/tube, full nickel finished with fire blued screws, appears to be period fitted pearl grips, and chambered in .38 Long Colt. This 1879 vintage Colt Lightning is in excellent original condition, retaining 95% original nickel finish, with assorted handling marks/scuffs and some loss of finish on the right side of the frame below the loading gate and at the muzzle. The bore is bright with sharp rifling, with only a couple of minor corrosion spots. The action functions perfectly in double action mode, in single action when the hammer is slowly cocked it does not fully lock up on all 6 cylinders until the trigger is squeezed, bringing the hand up and rotating the cylinder until it locks in place. The pearl grips fit well, though slightly under sized with some chipping present on the bottom of both grips. Comes with a Colt factory letter attesting to its original configuration with rubber grips and stating the gun was shipped on April 1st, 1879 to Spies Kissam and Company located in New York, New York.
