Description:
General Specs: Marlin, 1996, .444Marlin, 7lbs. 3oz., LOP 13 13/16"
Serial Number:  04016556

Vintage Firearms Inc is pleased to offer this Marlin 444SS, manufactured in 1996, it is serial number 04016556. This example exhibits 99% factory bluing on the barrel, receiver and lever, it has a 9.5+/10 mirror bore. The gun has a few field marks on the furniture, nice contrasting straight grain and superb checkering. This model features a cross-bolt safety which also adds the extra ‘S’ to the designation- the first ‘S’ is for ‘Sporter’. Marlins are side loading and side ejecting meaning these rifles are perfect for adding optics and are pre-tapped. No offset scope mounts that the Winchester 94 must accommodate! The .444 Marlin cartridge was introduced in 1964 and the Marlin 444 followed in 1965. The cartridge was designed to fill the gap left by the famous .45-70. At the time the .444 Marlin was the largest lever-action cartridge available to shooters. The Marlin 444 can push 240-grain bullet velocities out of its 22” barrel to over 2,400 ft/s and delivering over 3,000 ft/lbs of energy! It is fully capable of taking any species in North America. This 444SS appears to have been very lightly shot and holds 4+1 rounds in its sporty ¾ magazine.  An excellent and powerful rifle in all respects. Thanks for looking!
