REVOLUTIONARY WAR Era Antique “BROWN BESS” .80 Flintlock COLONIAL Musket
With a Pattern 1740 British Lock
Description: REVOLUTIONARY WAR Era Antique “BROWN BESS” .80 Flintlock COLONIAL Musket With a Pattern 1740 British Lock Here we present an antique Brown Bess Pattern Colonial Flintlock Musket, made in England circa the mid-1700s. In the North American colonies in the years leading up to the American there was limited domestic arms manufacture. Many arms and components were imported from England and many were made from parts cannibalized from other arms, as George D. Moller explains in American Military Shoulder Arms Vol. I. Arms like this would have been crucial to keep American revolutionaries armed especially until French weapons began arriving in significant numbers. This one features a Pattern 1740 British Brown Bess lock, iron trigger guard and butt plate, and a hand-wrought iron ramrod. The lock has British military proofs as well as the royal cipher for King George (“GR” for Georgius Rex). King George II ruled from 1727-1760, whereupon he was succeeded by his son, King George III, who ruled an impressive 60 years from 1760-1820. It was the latter that would oversee the period of the Seven Years War (1756-1763), American Revolutionary War (1775-1783) as well as the Napoleonic Wars (1799-1815), a turbulent time to say the least. The overall condition is very good. Patina throughout. The action is strong. The bore is smooth and patinated. The stock shows use and remains solid. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 42 inches. Caliber: .80 Flintlock Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $6500 #247675 SOLD Antique: Yes |
