Description:
1899 mfg. U.S. Army COLT M1901 .38 LONG COLT Double Action REVOLVER C&R

MARTIALLY INSPECTED Update to the Model 1892

Here we present a C&R U.S. Colt Model 1901 U.S. Army Double Action Revolver, made in 1899 by the Colt Manufacturing Company in Hartford, Connecticut. This is one of the many upgrades of the Colt Model 1892 series of U.S. Army revolvers with a production run from 1892 through 1907.

Often, these revolvers were considered more potent than most of the military handguns of the period and they were still in active service along with the larger .45 caliber handguns through at least the end of World War I. By the time production ceased in 1907 (the gun would be kept in the government inventory for several years after that) more than a quarter of a million versions of the Army & Navy had been made. Not a bad track record for an arm that many consider something of a failure.

It's great to see a piece of history like this featured in popular video games like Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto: Online, and a few Hollywood classics.

The overall condition is fine. Excellent action. Bright, original blue finish with some holster wear on the barrel. Shiny bore with sharp rifling. Markings are legible. Solid grips. The right grip is missing a small chip from the toe. “L.E.B.” and “R.A.C.” marked frame.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 6 inches.

Caliber: .38 Long Colt

Overall condition as seen in photos.
