These guns were presented from Napoleon Bonaparte to General Pedro Caro Sureda, the 3rd Marquis de Romana. The General was sent to Germany to help Napoleon’s forces. By 1808, Napoleon had dethroned King Charles IV and replaced him with his brother Joseph Bonaparte as the new King of Spain. By 1809, General Sureda had been in contact with Admiral Richard Goodwin Keats and a plan was made to defect approximately 10,000 Spanish soldiers which would severely weaken Napoleon’s army. When the time came, approximately 9,000 soldiers defected using seized Danish vessels. These pistols were given to Keats by the Marquis de Romana where he said to Admiral Keats “I received these weapons from my greatest enemy, I now give them to my greatest and best friend." These pistols came directly out of the Keats family and come with documentation. These guns are absolutely fantastic with amazing history! Price: $395,000.00 |
